On May 5th I was able to host an amazing event with Dermalogica in Scottsdale!!! I feel so incredibly blessed to have made friends with the girls at Dermalogica. They have been so kind to me and my followers ever since I met them in August 2017. Dermalogica is not a company specific to diabetes but the way they have come out to support me and the T1D community has been truly beautiful. If you have the opportunity to stop by the Scottsdale location, please thank them for supporting the Type 1 community!
Living with Type 1 Diabetes is HARD. Whether you have Type 1 or are a parent of a child with Type 1, you need a little break! As we all know, there are NO days off from diabetes, so the next best thing would be to have a day with a little pampering! I asked Dermalogica in Scottsdale if they would host us and they gave me a big YES! Not only did they host and offer Facefits (mini facials), they asked their friends to join in and offer services also! Angela who is the General Manager at Dermalogica asked her friend Mimi, who is a makeup artist, to do makeovers. Guess what!? Mimi is also Type 1! It was extra special for her to be able to give back to the Type 1 Community. She also brought along 2 of her friends who did an amazing job making all the guests feel beautiful. Also, Angela asked Auburey Aestetics to offer “Sugaring” hair removal for guests. She was a bit HIT! She had a long line of everyone wanting to get their eyebrows done by her!
While guests were enjoying their beauty services, there was also a mini fashion show planned. I have my own line of tees and tanks for diabetes awareness. I decided to ask 12 of my awesome followers to model them at the event! I just needed someone to complete the outfit! Thankfully I worked as a vendor for an accessory company for 6 years! I would travel from Old Navy to Old Navy to create their jewelry displays. I have a friend Lindsey, who is the General Manager at Old Navy at the Phoenix Premium Outlets and I asked if she would participate in the show! She said YES and we were able to borrow whatever we needed from the store! Again, Old Navy has no direct ties to T1D. It is so sweet and generous for them to participate in my event. Please consider supporting Old Navy since it is so important to support companies who support those of us living with Type 1! If you are in AZ, please stop by the Old Navy at the Phoenix Premium Outlets and let them know we are thankful for their support!
In addition to Old Navy, Myabetic provided diabetes bags for the show and also some bags to raffle off! If you haven’t checked out their fashionable diabetes bags/cases click HERE and you can save 15% + free shipping with the code “GLITTER”
Also Pump Peelz was so sweet to also participate! They went above and beyond by sending Peelz to match each individual model and for her specific devices! Their products make it so fun to decorate diabetes! If you haven’t already, you can check out their site here and save 15% off with the code “GlitterGlucose”
I’m still not done! It takes a village to put on an event! Special thank you to Be Mixed for providing ZERO SUGAR/ZERO CALORIE drink mixers! We made “Spa Water” with their Cucumber Mint mixer. Also the event happened to fall on Cinco de Mayo so of course we celebrated with margaritas! Be Mixed was very kind and generous to provide margarita mix as well! Enlightened also provided all guests with a coupon for free ice cream and snacks during the event!
Not only did all those awesome companies participate but my family and friends also came through to help me out! Everyone had a job! My husband was at the door doing check-in. He had to check people in, give out raffle tickets, bracelets plus a Dermalogica gift card. Also guests with Type 1 were given a yellow Beyond Type 1 bracelet so they could spot their diabuddies! My mom and sister made the food. My sister was also selling my shirts. My friend Kate did Instagram stories. You can still watch by visiting my Instagram page! My friend Francesca was in charge of the show. She helped me pick out all the outfits from Old Navy + she came to the show to help everyone get dressed and accessorized! I am so thankful to have such an amazing support system! With everyone’s help we were able to donate a portion of the proceeds to Beyond Type 1! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE AND EVERYONE WHO MADE THIS POSSIBLE!!!
Below is a galley of photos by Special Blend Brands! Mary also volunteered her time and spent the day at our event capturing shots! Mary had only been following me for 1 day when I posted on my Instagram that I was looking for a photographer! So kind of her to offer her talent for this special event!
