WOW! What a year it has been! 2018 was a whirlwind. If I could replay 1 year of my life over again, it would be 2018. I want to share my top 5 moments of the year with you & I would love if you shared some of your best moments too! Cheers to 2019!
In no particular order:
East coast trip with Sanofi, Lexicon + Myabetic
In November I had the amazing opportunity to travel to New Jersey with Sanofi and Lexicon for their T1 Talks Forum. I was on a live feed for 3 hours in the company of all the heavy hitters in the diabetes community. We fostered a conversation about unmet needs within the Type 1 community. It was amazing to hear perspectives from those within the community! The next day I hosted a meetup in NYC with Myabetic! 60 of my diabuddies came to hang out and we had the BEST time! Can’t wait to head back to the East Coast!
MY LIMITED-EDITION COLLECTION WITH PUMP PEELZ
What a dream come true this was! I worked closely with the founders of Pump Peelz (Scott & Emily) to create my dream collection of Pump Peelz! I had the opportunity to design 5 prints that were sold the month of August. It still brings a HUGE smile to my face when I see others post photos wearing my designs!
Aruba with Kevin
I traveled A LOT this year but my husband stayed at home for most of the trips. It was nice to head to Aruba for the first time and explore together! Visiting the private island called Flamingo Island was the highlight! I never thought I would be surrounded by flamingos! They were so friendly! They love the camera and they love people! They even followed me out of the water and wanted me to run the shower for them!
Partnering with Real Good Foods
I had been working with Real Good Foods on occasion and always had my fridge stocked with their yummy foods! I casually met up with AJ, the Chief Marketing Officer and I told him all about Beyond Type 1. I put him in touch with the amazing organization and their relationship blossomed! Real Good Foods then gifted Beyond Type 1 thousands of dollars to be used to make a difference in the lives of those living with diabetes! Sarah the CEO of Beyond Type 1 and Thom the COO both reached out and thanked me for the introduction. It was a big happy moment for everyone involved. A million thank you’s to Real Good Foods for the generosity! The entire month of November they donated a portion of profits to Beyond Type 1!
Chicago with Xeris
In 2018 I had the opportunity to learn more about the pharmaceutical company Xeris. They have created a LIFE CHANGING version of the glucagon! The current glucagon on the market is so difficult to use, especially in an emergency situation. Xeris created the technology to make the glucagon into a 1-step, easy to use pen. (Similar to an EpiPen) Finding out and learning more about this groundbreaking technology made me so emotional. It gave me so much peace! It still isn’t out on the market, but it will be in 2019! Huge thank you to Xeris for hosting me in Chicago for this amazing educational conference. I will have lots more info to share about this in a few months! BONUS: I got to meet many of my diabuddies in person!
Honorable mention: My Emma! I got a new kitty in 2018 and my life has forever changed. I never knew the love of a pet this strong. I am so over the moon with my little girl Emma! She is crazy but so loving! I am definitely a crazy cat lady!
Wishing you the best 2019 possible! Let me know your highlights too!
